I'm Back

I've been MIA because we've been living it up in Florida! We had a fabulous 2 weeks in glorious sunshine - mostly 80 degrees. Quite a contrast to back home.

So I'll have lots of catchin up to do (and loads of photos to upload), but for now, I'll wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and thank you to those of you who have taken an interest in my stuff. Here's to an even better New Year!

A quick share.

Missy - one of the ladies on the Ally Scraps forum set a challenge to use a photo of her daughter in a layout. I loved the photo because it had a real urban feel to it. Here's my take on the photo:

I wanted to mix an urban feel with something more feminine and soft. I love the stamps from Prima - they are some of my favourites. The mesh is from Making Memories (although I'm not sure they still make it).

I've also stamped on the background (Back Porch Memories) to add a little more grunge. I do hope that Missy likes it.

I did up some quick autograph books for the kids using October Afternoon and Imaginisce

The Fairest of them All paper has little touch of glitter and is really too gorgeous to use. It was just the sweetest so I kept the front embellishment to a minimum.

I love the Night Light from OA - I'm a sucker for cute!

The journal card is left over from Scenic Route - they go together so well. It's all bound together with my BIA.

On the Home Straight

Phew! The school Christmas fair was last night - we worked really hard all day setting up and well on into the night. It seemed really busy - we ran out of Santa gifts twice so I had to make 2 mad dashes to the shops to get more. I hope that we raised lots of cash for our new outdoor classroom that we want.

Now that it's over, I can breathe a huge sigh of relief and get on with the business of Christmas.

I have found some layouts which I've not been able to share before because of my agreement with ScrapGenie, however, in light of the circumstances, I don't think that it applies any longer.

I particularly wanted to share this first one as it is one of my most favourite layouts that I've ever done. I did the layout about 6 months ago and it was destined for a class.

The pretty little girl is my friend's daughter. She has the prettiest of eyes and is so cute IRL. I just love how I caught her during a trip to the park.

The papers and embellishments are all Prima Urban Rhapsody. The Chipboard letter is Cosmo Cricket.

Another Prima Project this time featuring my own bundle of joy.

This was taken about a year ago - I can see such big changes in DD already.

Those gorgeous stamps are Prima's Build a Frame. The most versatile and well-used from my entire collection.

I've also used some stamps from Purple Onion to alter the letter. I just love a little grungy script on things. The beads were painstakingly sewn in a zig-zag fashion but you can't really see all the work LOL.

I have more projects which I'll be able to share, but I'll space them out a bit.

I'm off for a lie down....

Snow is Falling...

I wish!

So I've been having a little play recently. I was so inspired by the snow men that

Linda Albrecht had made, that I had to make one of my own.

Now the little guy can't play on his own, so I wanted to put him on an album. I've used a Maya Road tin which has been painted with Gesso before covering with snow paint and glitter :)

The snowman is made from polystyrene balls which have been decorated before covering in glitter. He is just so cute IRL although not a patch on Linda's!

I made the tree from paper scraps which have been 'frilled' before gluing to a paper cone. I'm so pleased at how it turned out.

The album is made from chipboard and covered in Pink Paislee paper (which is actually metallic and very gorgeous).

The jingle bells have been dipped in glitter and tied together with ribbons and feathers.

So the album works around the song 'Merry Christmas Everyone' by Shakin Stevens.

The song goes along the lines of....
Snow is Falling...
All Around Us...
Children Playing...
Having Fun...
'Tis the Season...
Love and Understanding..

Anyway here is the rest of the album.

Enjoy the season!

We didn't have such a great day today. Max, Jacob's gerbil was really poorly when Jacob went to feed her this morning. We tried our best to comfort her and keep her warm but it was no use. The vet had to put her to sleep.

The kids were really devastated so we made her a little bed to sleep on. Jacob wrote a little note for her and we buried her in the garden. It is so touching how much the gerbils mean to them, but I guess it's a lesson they have to learn. I am truly surprised at how much it upset me - she was such a cute little critter.

I'm trying to console myself by being busy. I've got on with selling some stuff on ebay and writing up projects. I've got a few more to share...

Sassafras have such whimsical paper lines. Cathy has all the latest here. We took the kids to a local wildlife trust but they had serious bird spotting going on so we had to keep the noise down. Consequently, they had more fun climbing the statues and walls.

I just love the little stickers. Made the mushrooms from the patterned papers.

I made this card using Crafty Secrets stamps ages ago but forgot to post it.

You probably can't quite see it from the picture, but the individual layers pop up for a 3D effect. Never done one of these before but it's quite simple (when you know how. LOL) Coloured in the images using watercolour pencils.

I'll definately post my frosty album tomorrow.

Night Night.

Can anyone hear sleigh bells?

It's the Christmas season and I'm feeling all festive. I've been trying to turn DD fairy costume into an Angel for her performance next week. I've made the cutest halo ever from fluffy stuff. I must remember to get a photo before it goes to school (some scrapbooker I am!)

In the meantime, I'll share some stuff from the past few weeks...

This month's reveal for Allyscraps was My Mind's Eye *Swoon*. I just adore their papers. These are Dreamy 2 Brilliant which I see are on special offer!!

I wanted to use non-traditional halloween papers for a Halloween LO (just because you can).

For my BOM forum, the challenge was a memorable day or event. I chose the day that DH proposed to me. I didn't have photos from around that time so only the journalling relates to our story. It's one of those things that would be forgotten in the years to come.

I finally got to do some scrapping of my own at our crop recently. DS is learning to play guitar and thankfully, he gets to play rock tunes.

He's playing Smoke on the Water and Wonderful Tonight mainly. Have to say he's playing pretty good too.

These gorgeous papers are from Prima of course. Aren't they just lush?!

Lastly, some more of Lauren doing her stripy leg thing. I have a thing about stripy legs :)

I've kind of made a 'scroll' down the LHS of the Vintage Moon papers from Pink Paislee. I've stamped and inked onto the back so that when it's folded over, it looks double sided.

I wanted to give the impression of flowers being tucked into the scroll, a bit like a boquet. I've altered these blossoms with acrylic paint and inks. Some black net adds a little more spookiness to the whole thing.

I love my copper letters from WRMK. Don't you just love stripy legs?!

I'll share some sparkly things tomorrow. I've been covered in glitter for days!!

TFL!
