Another Jam-Packed week

We had a fab weekend away for the bank holiday. Last minute thing. We went to Weston Super Mud again for another cheesy day out. We were not disappointed!

Then surpisingly we visited Minehead. Renowned for Butlins (yuk). Pete remembers it as somewhere you'd never visit again, but if you look past Butlins, it's actually a very clean, sweet town by the sea. Anyway, I was proved right. We had a truly brilliant day, walking out to meet the lovely warm sea (this is England?), playing in the sand.

We went to Hatton Country World again yesterday (got to get the max out of our passes). Another super day - I spoil those kids don't I??! Just look at these sunflowers - it's a shame it wasn't sunny at the time, but can't have it all.

Trying to prepare for Shimelle's class on Saturday, so scrap time is limited.

This one was taken at Drayton Manor Park a few weeks ago. I like the circles edge at the top - it worked out really well. I'm really trying to stay away from circles but it is impossible. I wonder how many ways you can use a circle?

Summer is Back!

Look at the power I have over the weather. I complain that it is the end of summer and the very next day summer returns (not that it appeared much before).

Carted off to the seaside with the kids yesterday to make the most of it. Went to cheesy Weston Super Mare and the tide was in! I'm must be lucky. Lolli loved riding on the donkeys - she rode Charlie like a pro.

We had a really fab day out - poor Pete was staying over in London where it rained all day. School holidays definately have their advantages.

Jacob will definately grow up to be an explorer. He's currently inventing potions in the back garden for his travels to far-flung places. I dare say that this could well be a real tiger in a few years time should he get his way! I love the fact that he is inquisitive about our world. At least it means that we get to holiday off the beaten track in future.

He was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the lead roles in his school play this year. Mini-beast Madness was all about those bugs and was truly fantastic. It had many excellent songs that we're still singing. Snitch was part of the bug squad wanting to exterminate all those little creatures. This LO was just a little bit of fun, but not quite what I imagined. Still think it needs something...

I did this one for Allyscraps with some left over bits from my kit. Lolli loves a shoulder ride from Pete - just look at her face - she's like the cat the got the cream. We'd had a great day out at Twycross Zoo. Sorry haven't got any animal pictures!

Summer has gone then.

It's really nippy here. We should be in blazing August and it feels like Autumn without the colour.

Been busy busy busy with DT stuff for Allyscraps. These have to wait for 30 days but you could pop over to have a peak if you like! AllyScraps Gallery

Also done some challenge LO's over at Allyscraps...
Kary set this one; 4-Embellishments, 3-Patterned papers, 2-Colour Cardstock, 1-Photo.

I used the lovely Amy Butler for K&Co papers - aren't they gorgeous? So versatile.

This simple one is of my good friend Audrey's kids when we went to a nature centre recently. I love Scenic Route papers. The fact that they are double-sided is even better isn't it? It's like having icing on your cake.

The photo is a little blurry (still getting to grips with my new lens). Stamps: Love Elsie, Back Porch Memories (Journalling block), MM, Sassafras Lass (Owl), 7 Gypsies.

Do you ever have one of those moments when you get a bright idea (doesn't happen very often). One thing leads to another and hey presto! The result is nothing like the original idea.

So Lauren loves all things fairy and princess - what 3 year old girl doesn't? So she has a couple at home which are scattered around. So I think to myself, she needs a little storage jar. I then think I could alter one for her. Then one thing leads to another and I think it would be far nicer to make wands than to make storage.

So here's the result. I made a bunch to get started with but I figure that I could make them as tokens of love or for special occasions.

Each one is cut from mount board (a bit painstaking in the case of the sun). Then papered with whatever took my fancy. Normally vintage papers whenever I'm altering anything. Then glittered. Our whole kitchen is covered.
Twinkle is one of my favourites. It's covered in genuine music score. I've created a heart with a key wrapped around it. and a couple of little sparkly wires shooting off it.

The moon was at one point going to have a cow jumping over it. But I couldn't find a decent cow so I've done stars and beads floating above it.

This little baby is simple in itself. I've drawn wings on acetate and then coloured the back with Stickles (diamond). This gives a lovely translucent sparkly effect ahhh.

The first one I did to celebrate Lauren's 3rd birthday.

There are a couple of others which I forgot to photo including one made from Laura Ashley material.

I think that this will be the start of something obsessional.

Half way through our summer holidays. Pete has been off for a week so we've been busy. Went to Drayton Manor park - got there before the rides opened and stayed until they closed. We all had a really great day. We're going to go back before the summer is out.

Also been to Twycross Zoo and RAF Cosford - both really great places and Cosford is FREE! Do you know one of the nicest things about the airplane museum is that it is manned by ex-servicemen. Everybody was really helpful, polite and enjoyed their job which is more than you can say for ride attendants at Drayton.

Been working my socks off on some LO's for Allyscraps (can't show those just yet) and some using Piggy Tales. I really love this one. Jacob at Drayton Manor. I had a sudden flash of inspiration to write down the words that best describe my zany son.
Certain - Generous, cheeky, bonkers, playful, quirky, funny, kind, special

He is certainly all that and more.

At last the sun appears.

Hoorah! What a difference a little sunshine can make - 3 days on the trot - may be summer has finally arrived.

We've been making the most of the sunshine with visits to the park (lots of parks which are now beginning to look the same).

I have made a pact with myself and my Disney photos. I'm having real trouble scrapping them when I don't really do Disney papers. So I'm just doing some LO's that are quite simple - they don't have to be original or my best work, they just have to be done. I won't photograph them (because I'm not really keen on them) but that's OK.

Anyway this one was done for a challenge which was limited to cardstock and unlimited ribbons. I scraped through the round into the next one. Thank you to the other 3 people that voted for me (i know there were some really brilliant LO's).
